Charlotte, NC (August, 2019) – MPV Properties (MPV) is pleased to announce the progression of construction on a new Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branch location that will be located at 4429 South Boulevard. The building, located in LoSo, is undergoing a total renovation. Once complete, the Library will lease 18,850 SF from an entity associated with MPV. This location will replace the existing Scaleybark branch located at the intersection of South Boulevard and Scaleybark Road. Renovation work is expected to be completed by October 15th, though the Library has yet to finalize its opening date to the public. The Library will offer adult, teen and child programming, and the branch will also participate in community-wide events such as Summer Break, Community Read and STEAM Month. Other services include Reading Buddies, free Wi-Fi, DigiLit classes, and the branch has plans to serve as a voting location for local and national elections.
The property was previously occupied by Woodward Compressor Sales before being vacated earlier this spring, and it’s one of the first buildings in the immediate area to undergo a transformation similar to what’s been seen further north in South End. “MPV sees the redevelopment momentum continuing south and west as the recently announced projects by Beacon Development and Pollack Shores break ground in the coming months,” states Mark Newell, Partner at MPV. Mark Newell, Bailey Patrick Jr, and Bailey Patrick of MPV have been responsible for leasing and developing the project, and Robert Johnson Architects, Geoscience and Shiel Sexton have been the key contractors involved.
