Steve Vermillion has been involved in the development of retail and mixed-use projects for over 30 years. He launched his career at CBL & Associates, one of the top ten regional mall developers in the country. As Vice President of the Regional Mall Division, Steve was involved in the development of over 5,000,000 square feet of regional malls from Texas to Florida. They included Post Oak Mall in College Station, Texas; Heartland Mall in Brownwood, Texas; The Mall in Johnson City, Tennessee; Sarasota Square in Sarasota, Florida; and Foothills Mall in Knoxville, Tennessee.
From CBL & Associates, Steve moved to Charlotte and served as President of Crosland Retail where he supervised the development and operations of over 4,000,000 square feet of space. At Crosland, Steve was well known for the quality of projects he produced. During his tenure there, his team never opened a center less than 95% leased. StoneCrest, Providence Commons, The Commons at Chancellor Park, Sharon Corners, Birkdale and Olde Towne Village are some of the developments he oversaw at Crosland.
After 12 years at Crosland Retail, Steve moved to Lincoln-Harris in Charlotte, one of the leading developers of office, retail and mixed-use developments in the Southeast. Steve was in charge of all development and management operations thereby supervising approximately 6,000,000 square feet of office and retail space, including Phillips Place and Ballantyne Commons in Charlotte.
Steve’s expertise includes rezoning, development, leasing and operations of retail and mixed-use projects. These projects range in size from the smallest neighborhood center to complex mixed-use and large scale retail projects. Over the years, his clients have included Harris Teeter supermarkets, Lowe’s Home Centers, Kohl’s department stores, Target, Belk department stores, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kroger, Regal Cinemas, Eastern Federal Cinemas, Eckerd, Food Lion, CVS/pharmacy, PetSmart, Marshalls, Old Navy and many other retailers.
