“They took what was a real eyesore in the market and made it into one of the premier developments in the area.”
As one of the first retail projects built in the SouthPark area, Sharon Corners was in desperate need of remodeling. The project had very little visibility to the streets and the tenant mix was outdated for what had occurred in the market since it was initially built. With a complete makeover and the addition of a second story, it has become one of the centerpieces of the SouthPark market. In addition, Sharon Corners won the 1995 ICSC award for Renovation of the Year.
Key elements in the development process included:
- Working with the architect to redesign the buildings so that there was more street visibility
- 85,000 square feet on 8 acres with a $12,000,000 total development cost
- Leasing of over 90,000 square feet of shop space
- Working with City staff to develop an overall plan to enhance the neighborhood
