Charlotte, NC (February 2014) – Merrifield Patrick Vermillion (MPV) announces that The Mayobird will occupy the former Caribou Coffee space (2,190 sf) and The Summit Room will occupy the former Bruegger’s Bagels space (2,040 sf) at 1531 East Boulevard in the heart of Dilworth. The two new restaurants, owned and operated by Donna (Deedee) Mills, will open this spring.

The Mayobird, open 6:00 am – 4:00 pm serving breakfast and lunch, is a locally born chicken salad based restaurant with southern, eclectic flair. The concept features over 15 distinctively different flavors of chicken salad as well as soups and other southern specialties, including pimento cheese and redneck caviar. Breakfast will include a coffee bar, quiches and casseroles in addition to other breakfast options. All will be homemade utilizing local produce and local free range chicken. Currently The Mayobird Food Truck is serving lunch and catering special events.

The Summit Room, open 4:00 pm to close, will be a full service, dinner only concept serving Southern inspired plates and specialty cocktails. The menu will change with the seasons and will also use fresh, local ingredients.

Ms. Mills lives in Dilworth with her 5-year-old son. She spent 17 years in the Communications department of the Carolina Panthers and in 2011 she founded the Behailu Academy, a non-profit visual and performing arts after school program for underserved teens. Both restaurant concepts will graciously support the Behailu Academy located in the NoDa neighborhood. www.behailuacademy.org.

Keely Simerville with MPV represented the Tenant in the transaction and Jubal Early with Lincoln Harris represented the Landlord. The two restaurants were designed by Jeffrey Hunter with 53:Twelve Architecture and DCG Construction will be the contractor for the project.
