The 6th annual Charlotte State of the Market event, presented by Bisnow, took place this morning at The Fillmore at the NC Music Factory. Google Fiber representative Mary Ellen Player delivered the opening remarks, before an “all-star” panel comprised of six prominent figures in the Charlotte commercial real estate market, including MPV Properties’ own Jim Merrifield, took the stage.

The discussion mostly centered around the success Charlotte has seen over the past few years, and how the city will continue to grow now and in the future. There were some differing opinions among the panelists as to whether businesses choosing to locate in South Carolina was bad for Charlotte, or good for the region as a whole, but the general consensus among those on stage was that the market is good now, but the industry should proceed with cautious optimism to avoid another 2008.
